A "fast bike path" should lead from the east of the district towards Ebersberg.

The community of Grasbrunn is now looking into expanding a section of the railway line.

Grasbrunn

- The Grasbrunn Greens want the community to pave and light the dirt road between the Vaterstetten S-Bahn station and the motorway bridge.

The municipal council decided unanimously that the administration should clarify the ownership situation and roughly estimate the costs of the expansion.

Of the five high-speed cycle routes into the surrounding area that the city of Munich is currently investigating, none lead to the southeast in the direction of Ebersberg. That is why the Greens from the city and the surrounding area presented a relatively inexpensive route that connects the communities over a good 30 kilometers away from car traffic. For Grasbrunn, the Greens want the unpaved dirt road south of the railway line, which currently functions as a pedestrian and cycle path, to be expanded. It should be checked to whom the section running on Grasbrunner Flur belongs, whether this section can be asphalted and widened in front of and behind the bridge over the A 99 so that pedestrian and bicycle traffic can be separated. The administration should also check whether it is possible to illuminate the path, everything with a corresponding cost estimate and what funding opportunities exist.

"However, I have two things to consider"

Mayor Klaus Korneder (SPD) was pleased with the application and wants to fully support it.

"However, I have two things to consider: There is already a cycle path around 500 meters away along the B 304," said the town hall chief.

"In addition, we will process the application in the administration under the aspect of minimizing costs, so only as a rough cost estimate." If you were to commission a planning office, this would result in considerable costs.

Jonas Meissner (Greens) emphasized that the entire fast cycle path can be built relatively quickly and inexpensively because it leads over existing paths. In contrast to the intended family-friendly route, he considers the cycle path along the B 304 to be quite dangerous due to cars turning and the traffic lights designed for motorists.

Korneder assumes that the encroachment on nature caused by the construction of the footpath and cycle path must be compensated for due to the sealing of the cycle path surfaces.

"However, the Greens' proposal does not include a proposal as to how this compensation could take place, unfortunately also no funding proposal." Meissner added that individual sections had already improved the cycle path network significantly and, according to his information, the special program "City and Country" could be considered as funding .

The federal government is providing the federal states with financial aid for investments in cycling up to a total of 657 million euros until 2023.

However, the prerequisite for funding is that complete application documents for projects ready for construction are available by December 31, 2021.
