The project:

Renovation of a 6-room apartment in North Tel Aviv

Space:

120 sq.m.

Planning and design:

Shlomit Zeldman

Sometimes all it takes to make a big change in an existing apartment is to rethink the definition of functions and spaces in the space.

The same is true of a family's apartment, where the eldest recently blossomed from the nest, and which interior designer Shlomit Zeldman adapted to the new needs.

More on Walla!

Before the renovation, this house was a collection of housing units.

What does he look like now?

On this occasion, it was decided to cancel the guest services near the entrance and open the kitchen, which had been imprisoned until now, towards the public space, an act that significantly improved the dynamics between those staying in the spaces as well as the living experience.

The massive renovation designed by interior designer Shlomit Zeldman in an apartment located in one of Tel Aviv's northern and quiet neighborhoods has changed its face from end to end.

Its area is about 120 square meters and it included before the renovation 6 rooms that have now become 5. In

addition to a serious facelift, two structural changes were made to the apartment that created a significant change. One: the demolition of guest services at the entrance that significantly increased the original kitchen space. The landlady who often hosts and cooks.

"In the new design, the landlady received a multi-purpose kitchen with work surfaces that faces the dining area and the living room and allows for optimal dynamics between those who work in the kitchen and all those living in the space," Zeldman explains.

"I chose to give it a luxurious look, so I chose a special high-grade formica in a graphite gray shade that resembles an epoxy paint in appearance and texture, and yet much more durable. The dark decathlon surface also helps create the atmosphere. That leaves the work surfaces free and clean at all times. "

Since one of the occupants of the house is a particularly large and sweet dog, it was decided not to choose a stone or wooden floor.

"We chose extra large porcelain tiles (1.2 / 1.2 m) in a relatively light concrete shade that creates the best contrast for the kitchen. The large tiles create a continuous look, with a minimum of connections, which contributes to the feeling of clean and airy space. For the rooms we chose oak parquet."

Explains the designer.

Because of this darling here, there is no parquet here.

But in the bedroom there is actually one crazy one - scroll down the pictures.

For the dining area, Zeldman chose an impressive table with a walnut wood top, to which she paired dark wood chairs.

In the living room, which faces the balcony and open and green view, the iconic armchair by the creator of Charles Ames stands out.

In order to create a kind of visual stop between the entrance to the apartment and the living room, Zeldman chose a long and impressive console made of iron on which are placed decorative objects that the landlady collected while traveling around the world.

The details of the original art that had hung around the apartment even before the renovation, were placed and hung in a new composition.

The air conditioning vents and jets blend elegantly into the design concept (Photo: Shai Epstein)

"To avoid unnecessary ceiling lowering, we installed the air conditioning unit in the bathroom and created a cornice above the hallway. Thus, in the public space you can actually see only elegant air conditioning vents that fit well into the design concept," Zeldman explains.

"We chose to use jets because they have excellent and distant air-throwing capability, so they help to blend the large space efficiently."

Space is not large, but accurate.

The master bedroom is not very large so a light modern bed with thin legs was chosen for him.

In order to create a sense of open bathroom space towards the bedroom (one piece).

The glass-enclosed parts are the shower and the designer chastity toilet by a ladder on which towels are hung.

On either side of the bathroom cabinet hung small light fixtures that serve as night lighting and create a relaxed and intimate atmosphere in the room.

In order not to overload the bathroom area with tiles, cover only the areas that come in direct contact with water, and the rest of the space is painted in the same shade as the room shade.
