In September 2019, the municipality last turned the fee screw for daycare facilities.

Now it's that time again.

Gmund - At its most recent meeting, the municipal council unanimously decided on the adjustment every two years.

“It's an increase of 2.8 percent, based on the consumer price index, that's moderate,” said Chamberlain Georg Dorn, before explaining the details of the amended statutes.

He also emphasized that the fee adjustment had been agreed with the parents' council, "they agree," said Dorn.

The game and drink money is excluded from the increase.

The starting point for the increase was the booking category three to four hours for the municipality. This is also used as a basis for the 40 percent discount for siblings. In the Zwergenburg day nursery, the fee range therefore ranges from 200 euros (two to three hours) to 354 euros (nine to ten hours) per month. Parents will have to pay between 99 euros (three to four hours) and 149 euros (eight to nine hours) for childcare in the Pius children's home, age range 1. In age group 2, the fees range between 89 euros (two to three hours) and 119 euros (five to six hours). Holiday care costs between 99 euros (three to four hours) and 139 euros (seven to eight hours). The cost for the playgroup is 26 euros per month,School lunch care costs between 35 euros (up to an hour) and 85 euros (four to five hours).

New daycare fees: food is also becoming more expensive

The prices for lunch have also been adjusted.

The municipal treasurer justified this with the fact that the fresh kitchen Holzkirchen, as the supplier of the food, had also increased its prices on January 1, 2021.

According to the fresh kitchen, the "high quality raw materials" used have increased considerably in price.

Therefore, the menu prices in the Pius Children's House (age range 1) increase by 20 cents per meal to 3.90 euros, in age range 2. Schoolchildren will have to pay 4.50 euros per meal for their lunch in future, 20 cents more than before.

This increase is also discussed with the parents' council, said treasurer Georg Dorn.

Ultimately, it was about the payment of childcare fees in the event of a temporary, unforeseeable closure of the daycare center, i.e. a closure that is ordered "from above", as was the case at the beginning of the corona crisis. Here it was also unanimously stipulated that the parental contributions must continue to be paid. Reimbursements, for example from the Free State of Bavaria, are then passed on to the families; a separate municipal council resolution is then no longer necessary.

"Our daycare fees are really very moderate and family-friendly," noted Mayor Alfons Besel (FWG).

The parents in Gmund only have to pay one sixth of the daycare fees, the remainder is paid by the municipality.

"Normally, the parents' share is a third," said Besel, adding that a kindergarten place costs the community around 3300 euros per year.

"We are really more than family-friendly," said the town hall chief.
