According to official information, there are still no corona cases in North Korea.

The isolated country does not report a single infection with the virus, even more than a year after the pandemic broke out.

But recently, dictator Kim Jong Un had senior officials replaced because they had caused a "critical" incident.

Experts suspected a corona outbreak.

Russia has therefore again offered the country support. "More than once we have spoken in contacts through our embassy with representatives of the North Korean leadership about our readiness to provide the necessary assistance when it is required," said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference. “This applies to both the vaccine and medical devices, if necessary. We regularly provide humanitarian aid in other forms to our North Korean neighbors. "In North Korea, an" almost complete lockdown "would still be in place.

A major corona outbreak could hit North Korea hard because the health system is extremely backward.

North Korea had already closed the borders early on and set up a "national emergency system" against the virus.

Therefore, the important trade with China had collapsed.

UN sees the country facing a food crisis

Just a few weeks ago, North Korea admitted that there was a food crisis in the country.

Even the weight loss of ruler Kim Jong Un used the leadership in Pyongyang for their propaganda.

According to UN experts, the food shortage is likely to be worse than previously assumed.

According to a report by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) published earlier this week, the country is likely to be short of 860,000 tons of food to adequately feed its population.

North Korea is facing a "hard dry spell".

The largely isolated country does not produce enough food itself and is at least partially dependent on imports.

However, because of its nuclear weapons and missile program, Pyongyang is subject to a large number of international sanctions.
