The corona crisis had brought the aviation industry almost completely to a standstill.

Lufthansa is now planning to return to all flight destinations by autumn.

But initially at a lower frequency.

Frankfurt / Berlin - Lufthansa is making progress on its way out of the corona lull.

Despite the persistent risk of virus infection and travel restrictions, the route network of the group brands is to be run up to almost the full extent again by September.

"We have decided that we will be offering almost all flight destinations again by September," said network planner Heiko Reitz in an interview with the business magazine Capital.

All destinations worldwide should therefore be offered again, but initially not with the same frequency, sometimes with several flights per day on one route.

Reitz and his team are planning the connections for the airlines Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings.

After the slump last year, numerous more touristy destinations were added to the Lufthansa program this summer.

In the long term, however, the group also wants to meet the demand from business travelers again.

In general, the flight schedules would be made much more flexible due to the very short-term demand, explained a company spokesman on Thursday. The MDax Group is still a long way from the pre-crisis level in terms of passenger numbers. dpa
