At 6: 3 in Garching, the state league youngsters of the STC Oberland celebrated their third victory in a row - and that without their player-coach Francesco Picco, who was in first place.

Wolfratshausen - The tennis men of the STC Oberland have made a great development. After a shaky first year in the regional league, the youngsters started the new season nervously. However, an opening defeat was followed by three wins in a row, with which the team worked its way up to second place. The most recent 6: 3 success at STK Garching was even achieved without the participation of player-coach Francesco Picco. "He was at a tournament in Italy and therefore had a bit of a guilty conscience," reports club spokesman Chris Hahn. Picco was all the happier when he was brought the good news: "That was a load off his heart."

Instead of the Italian, Ferdinand Klösters moved to position 1 and was up against the strong Russian Matvey Khomentovskij. "A service monster", judges Hahn. Klösters fought well, but lost 2-0 as expected. Because Yannick Maser was at an ITF tournament in Egypt, the rest of the line-up also had to be changed. The brothers Nicola and Mattia Ghedin as well as captain Niklas Vonthein, however, ensured a 3-1 lead for the STC. After Hahn and Sebastian Rupp lost - he only failed in the match tie-break - it was 3: 3 after the singles.

In the doubles, the game community from Wolfratshausen and Geretsried then wanted to close the bag. But it was tighter than expected. Klösters / Rupp lost their first set before taking a 2-1 win in the match tie-break. Vonthein / Mattia Ghedin also had to go into extra time before the points were credited to them. A clear case, however, was the duel between Nicola Ghedin / Hahn against the duo with Garching's number one, Khomentovskij, who went 2-0 to the STC. "I was sure that our plan would work," said the team spokesman confidently after the renewed success. "We have already had a good record in the doubles games so far this season."when the unbeaten table leader TC Hengersberg is a guest. "We're going into this encounter without great expectations, but want to continue our series if possible," says Chris Hahn.

The men's 30s are still swimming on the wave of success in the regional league, who underpinned their ambitions for promotion with a 7-2 win against TC Abensberg.

Christoph Schramm, Philipp Henrich, Andreas Schneider, Daniel Hahn and Sören Nassner won the individual points for the front runner;

Ruben Haug had to give up his match.

For the doubles, the guests agreed on a 2: 1 for the STC.

On Saturday, July 10th, the men 30 can set the course for the regional league with a home win against the direct TC Malgersdorf.

And for the men of 40, too, the rise is within reach.

With a close 5: 4 at TF Schönau am Königsee, the STC already managed their third victory in a row, so that together with the MTTC Iphitos Munich II they are unbeaten at the top of the table of the super district league.
