Now the sun just has to shine.

The water from the Würm is well tempered and of good quality.

If you discover foam, you don't have to worry.

Würmtal

- "You can go swimming," says Florian Kusterer from the Starnberg Health Department.

The water quality of the Würm is good.

The temperature was last at 19.8 degrees Celsius.

“You can take it there,” he says.

As far as Escherichia coli and intestinal enterococci are concerned, “the values are good, whatever else”.

Foam on the surface of the water is no cause for concern

If you still have reservations about swimming in the Würm because there is sometimes foam on the surface of the water, you can not worry.

“This is not a pollution, but a natural process,” explains the spokesman for the Munich Water Management Authority, Christian Leeb.

“I see that more often,” says Kusterer.

As a rule, the foam is protein.

Leeb explains the origin of this phenomenon as follows: If small organisms that occur naturally in water fall down somewhere, they burst, then proteins come out and these can then be seen.

"No worrying conditions"

As far as the water level in the Würm is concerned, everything is also within the normal range.

The heavy rain of the past few weeks has not had any major impact.

Lake Starnberg compensates for this.

At the height of Leutstetten, the level is currently 1.34 meters.

“There have been hardly any fluctuations in the past three months,” says Leeb.

“In terms of values, that's okay.

Downstream, the level is measured again in Obermenzing.

45 centimeters are normal there.

Currently there are 55. Leeb attests the Würm "no worrying conditions from the water level" there either.

Investigation postponed due to heavy rain

The only consequence of the heavy rain was that the sampling of the Würm, with which the water quality is determined, took place later than usual this year.

The first sample of the standing bathing water in the Starnberg district was taken at the beginning of May.

Traditionally, the Würm is only present from the second collection.

"Because the number of bathers is still very manageable," explains Kusterer.

But the second examination also took place without worm water.

The standing bathing water must be examined.

That is what the EU prescribes.

Not the Würm.

Because it was raining so much, the Würm was left out.

"When it rains heavily, it makes no sense to take a sample," says Kusterer.

The rain washed a lot of dirt from the bank into the water.

That could falsify the result.

And hardly anyone goes swimming in bad weather anyway.

So this year the Würm was only there at the third attempt. The values are now from Wednesday June 30th. The next sampling to examine the quality of the bathing water is planned for about two weeks. The results can be found on the Internet on the Starnberg District Office's website.
