However, a request by phone confirmed: The person wanted had not stayed at the Traunsteiner Hütte as agreed.
Fatal accident in Berchtesgaden Alps: helicopter can only rescue missing people dead
A little later a large-scale search began.
Several search parties from the Ramsau mountain rescue service were brought to various climbs on the Reiteralpe.
A police helicopter was also used.
Shortly after half past nine the sad realization came: At about 1700 meters on the south-east crash of the Hohen Gerstfeld, a helicopter discovered an obviously fallen person.
According to the police report, the climber was lying in a wide gully in the steep Schrofen terrain.
It is currently assumed that the number of holidaymakers has increased massively.
Because the scene of the accident was far from any paths, climbs and climbing routes.
A short time later, the victim was rescued by a rescue helicopter and flown into the valley.
Here only the death of the man could be determined.
A mountain guide from the Berchtesgaden police station has taken over the investigation into the course of the accident.
