Recreational athletes have been waiting eagerly for this news: After a long corona break, baskets can now be thrown and goals scored again on the municipal basketball and football fields in Schongau.

On the other hand, there is bad news when it comes to bike parks.

Schongau - The easing affects the basketball facility at the Lechsporthalle and the two football fields in Forchet and Leprosenanger.

The city announced in a press release that they can be used by everyone again with immediate effect.

The only condition: The currently applicable contact restrictions must be observed by the athletes.

This means that groups of up to ten people from different households are allowed to stay together.

Children under the age of 14 are not counted, the same applies to everyone who has been fully vaccinated against Corona or who have recovered from Covid 19 disease.

There are no helpers for supervision in the bike park

Cyclists have been able to pedal again at the Schongau Bikepark for a long time. The popular facility on the Schärflshalde has been open since the beginning of June. However, there is now bad news regarding opening times. So far, the area could be used in dry weather on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In the future, Thursday will be completely eliminated, the opening times will be reduced on the remaining three days. You can only cycle on Fridays from 2.30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to the responsible city employee, Alexander Erhard, the reason for this is that currently only three volunteers are available to register visitors. This is still necessary to establish contacts because, unlike the football and basketball courts, the bike park is not classified as a leisure facility but as a sports facility, explains Erhard. The obligation to wear an FFP2 mask also continues to apply to the entire facility. It can only be removed for biking. In contrast, there is no longer a limit to the number of users as at the beginning due to the current low level of infection.

However, the new opening times are not set in stone.

If there are more voluntary helpers for supervision, they will of course be happy to expand them again, says Erhard.
