Prime Minister Hussein Arnous met today, Abbas Kilro, Vice President of the Iranian-Syrian Parliamentary Friendship Association in the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly and the accompanying delegation, where the importance of strengthening parliamentary relations, increasing communication and mutual visits to achieve the common interest of the two friendly countries and peoples.

Engineer Arnous expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Syrian people, pointing out that the Syrian and Iranian peoples have thwarted what the enemies were planning for the two countries and the region.

For his part, Kelro said: The aim of the Iranian parliamentary delegation's visit to Syria is to increase coordination and cooperation and to overcome obstacles facing joint cooperation, and that the Iranian Islamic Consultative Assembly is interested in developing relations with friendly countries and strategic allies such as Syria, stressing his country's continued provision of all forms of support to the Syrian people.

He stressed the importance of opening new areas of cooperation to achieve prosperity for the Syrian and Iranian peoples, and to make such visits effective and successful, and give real indications to raise the level of relations between the two countries, explaining the need to start implementing short-term plans and moving to long-term plans to achieve tangible results for economic cooperation on the ground.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Dr. Qais Muhammad Khader, the deputy head of the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the People's Assembly, a number of members of the committee, and the Iranian ambassador in Damascus.
