President Alberto Fernández headed this Thursday the Summit of Heads of State of the Common Market of the South (Mercosur), where at the end the president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, chicanered with him for the final of the Copa América that will face both countries in the final this Saturday night.

"

Our only rivalry will be next Saturday at the Maracana

," Bolsonaro said, laughing, and warned Fernández that the Brazilian team was going to win 5-0.

"After this, precious Fernández, know that

we will always want the best for Argentina,

" Bolsonaro concluded after his humor.

Although there was no response from the Argentine president, who avoided entering the soccer chicanery dispute,

there was laughter and relaxation

during the final intervention of his Brazilian

counterpart

, with whom Fernández does not have a great relationship.

The Argentine national team will face Brazil this Saturday at 21, at the legendary Maracana stadium, where the team led by Lionel Messi will go in search of a title that has been denied since 1993.

Fernández, who transferred the pro tempore presidency of Mercosur to Brazil, spoke in his speech of "consensus" and "greater regional integration" in the midst of the global health crisis.

"We believe that the way is to comply with the Treaty of Asunción, negotiate together with third countries or blocs and respect the figure of consensus, based on decision-making in our integration process," he insisted.

It was then that he again evoked Pope Francis to ensure that "no one is saved alone."

"As our beloved Pope Francis would say, we have to be artisans of harmony, sow good, be prophets of hope. In that spirit, Argentina reaffirms once again that no one is saved alone," he stressed.

Accompanied by Foreign Minister Felipe Solá and the Minister of Productive Development, Matías Kulfas, Fernández concluded that "alone we will feed the mirage of vain prosperity; united we can consolidate a creative Mercosur, which advances hand in hand with its peoples and does not cut itself off" .

The presidents of the member states, Mario Abdo Benítez (Paraguay), Luis Lacalle Pou (Uruguay) and Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil) participated in the meeting.

Also present were the Presidents of the Associated States, Sebastián Piñera (Chile), Guillermo Lasso (Ecuador) and Irfaan Ali (Guyana).

In addition, the vice president of Bolivia, David Choquehuanca, and the director of the Mechanism of Agreement and Integration of Colombia, Adela Maestre, were part of the event.
