Stuttgart - As Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU) announced on Thursday, the leaders of the Greens and CDU will meet on this Friday evening in the New Palace in Stuttgart to discuss the key points of the next budget. The main question is whether Green-Black wants to incur new debts again because of the Corona crisis. The federal government is planning to take out almost 100 billion euros in new loans in the coming year and is canceling the debt brake with reference to the Corona emergency.
The coalition must deal with the fact that the pandemic has torn big holes in the budget. According to tax estimates, there will be a shortfall of three billion euros in the budget for the coming year. This financial situation is the reason why Grün-Schwarz has put all planned projects under budgetary reservation in the coalition agreement. Now the struggle should begin as to which projects should have priority. Will more police officers be hired or more teachers? Will you invest in climate protection and the transport turnaround or will the debts from the Corona crisis be paid back first?
The new finance minister Danyal Bayaz (Greens) will first bring the supplementary budget to the state parliament next Wednesday. With the budget, the coalition wants to arm itself above all for the uncertain course of the corona crisis and to mitigate the consequences. The addendum has a volume of around 2.47 billion euros, and the state is planning new loans of 1.2 billion euros.
