New mobilization at Roissy airport: disruptions to be expected

The employees of the ADP group will once again be on strike during this second weekend of departures on vacation. The strikers denounce the ten

Should we expect a mess in the terminals of Roissy airport this weekend?

The movement of employees of the ADP group (Aéroports de Paris) should continue from this Friday morning.

Strike notices have been filed by the CFE-CGC, CGT and Unsa unions (with the support of FO and the CFDT), from 4 am this Friday until Sunday 7 am.

A static gathering is scheduled at gate 16 of Roissy terminal 2E between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., followed by a collective trip to ADP headquarters.

This is what the trade unions have submitted as a route to the police headquarters, but there is little chance that the employees will follow this plan.

Delays on average of one hour last Friday

The last three weekends, the employees chose to carry out actions outside the union framework with the aim of disrupting the operation of the airport to make their movement visible.

By blocking the border control booths, the screening inspection points (where security checks take place) or by going into spontaneous demonstrations on the access roads to the terminals, they succeeded in causing major disruptions, in particular last Friday. .

The ADP group estimates that this resulted in delays of one hour on average in the morning and until mid-afternoon at Roissy.

He recommends that passengers anticipate possible blockages by coming earlier.

200 reports drawn up against the demonstrators

The delegation to the airports of the police headquarters foresees between 400 and 600 demonstrators on the platform.

"We have the impression that we would be on a better controlled movement this time," said one of its officials.

Last weekend, the police hampered these movements and distributed fines to demonstrators mainly for violations of health rules - presence in the terminals without a plane ticket or authorization and not wearing a mask.

Some 200 reports were reportedly drawn up (at € 135 each), sometimes several to the same person.

The strikers had a particularly bad experience of being blocked in the parking lots of the terminals for two hours last Saturday.

“They didn't have to be there so we blocked them.

Our goal is not to prevent protests.

We put rules to frame them, not to prevent them.

It is also to protect the demonstrators ”, underlines an official of the delegation to the airports.

"There was abuse, they could not even go to the toilet," denounces Rachid Eddaidj, general secretary of the CFE-CGC union (majority).

“It was psychologically hyperviolent.

There are employees who came out in tears, ”adds Claire Cazin, elected CGT.

37% of employees declare themselves to be strikers

Will these repressive measures make them hesitate or further stir up their anger?

"We are counting on a strong mobilization", indicates Claire Cazin who adds that 37% of employees have declared themselves strikers.

Will employees block the terminals?

"They've been organizing themselves for several weeks, so anything is possible," replies Rachid Eddaidj.

“A thousand people are expected, or a fifth of ADP's workforce.

We hope to be 500 to 600 in the procession of Charles-de-Gaulle and 400 in that of Orly.

It will be a great mobilization ”, assures Manu, an employee.

On Saturday July 3, the demonstrators were reportedly fined for non-compliance with health measures.

What is certain is that the demands of the trade unions are not being met. They demand the withdrawal of a plan to modify employment contracts, which provides for "the removal or recalculation of certain bonuses". “A third of my salary is made up of bonuses. I will lose between 200 to 300 euros per month, or 10% of my gross salary. We will strike indefinitely, as long as we remain at this level of dialogue, ”reports Manu.

Management announced "a compensatory bonus" for losses greater than 5% of salary. The latter indicates having made new proposals to elected staff. "For the moment, the management's proposals remain unsatisfactory," said Rachid Eddaidj. "It's peanuts", judge Claire Cazin. It specifies that the introduction of constrained mobility, the abolition of mileage allowances and hours increased in relation to seniority are among the sticking points. "And on those three things, they don't want to move," she says.
