The Haitian authorities reported this Thursday the arrest of six people for their alleged involvement in the assassination of the president, Jovenel Moïse, who was shot at his residence at dawn on Wednesday.
"We have the physical perpetrators [of the assassination] and we are looking for the intellectuals," Police Director General Léon Charles said in a televised statement alongside Acting Prime Minister Claude Joseph.
Among the suspects arrested this Thursday is an American citizen of Haitian descent, identified as James Solages, according to Mathias Pierre, minister of the Electoral Issues of Haiti, as reported by The Washington Post.
Police in Haiti said Wednesday that four suspects were killed and two more arrested amid the chaos caused by the assassination.

by the suspects in the attack were released
at night, said Léon Charles, head of the Haitian National Police.
They did not give details of the attackers: their nationality is still unknown, although reports say that in the video they are heard speaking in Spanish and English.
Most Haitians speak Creole or French.
