With clear announcements and a lot of applause, Anton Hofreiter (Greens) started the federal election campaign.

District

- At the end of June, the Lower Bavarian city of Landshut was under water due to a storm, while temperatures in parts of Canada rose to up to 50 degrees.

For the member of the Bundestag Anton Hofreiter (Greens) it is clear: “We are now seeing the effects of climate change”.

The Bundestag direct candidate for the district of Munich called for action in his online election campaign.

The audience applauded hard.

"Protect the climate, save species with Anton Hofreiter" was the name of the online event.

Hofreiter, leader of the Greens in the Bundestag, was a biodiversity researcher before his political career.

The topic of the lecture was not only the extinction of animals.

Hofreiter also spoke about expensive apartments (“under Kohl social housing was abolished”), the emerging world power China (more cohesion is needed in the European Union) and speed limits (leads to fewer deaths and “reduces fuel consumption”).

These are issues that affect the district, but the direct candidate did not name solutions tailored to the region.

Climate protection: "It must finally be started"

Back to Hofreiter's favorite agenda: the climate crisis. "As humans, we know more than ever before in human history," said the doctor of biology at the beginning. This knowledge must be used to avert the crisis, not for "short-term gains". Biodiversity is like a tightly woven network. “This web carries us humans.” However, the more species become extinct, the more knots we would cut out of the web. Ergo: We would destroy our own livelihood. His antidote: preserve ecosystems and reduce CO2 emissions. More wind turbines, more photovoltaics, more reliable rail trains. The federal governments have invested too little in the latter over the past 50 years. “It must finally be started,” said Hofreiter.

Even the auto industry is starting to rethink.

If you want to buy an e-car at the moment, you have to expect long delivery times, said Hofreiter.

An expression for people's rethinking.

However, as the number of e-cars increases, a better charging infrastructure is also required.

In rural areas in particular, citizens would have no alternative car.

"I call that forced mobility."

"Dr.

Hofreiter must become a minister! "

Speaking of electric cars: Hofreiter likes the debate about environmentally harmful batteries for vehicles.

Finally, the working conditions in distant countries would be discussed in this country.

“We need a good supply chain law,” said the politician.

After the question and answer session with spectators, Anton Hofreiter becomes pathetic: “Let us promote that the framework conditions be set in such a way that our space of freedom is expanded, not restricted.” He is fighting for this freedom.

“Let's tell the story in a positive way: more freedom, more good life for everyone,” concluded Hofreiter.

The 150 spectators - mostly Greens from the district - applauded.

One participant wrote in the chat: “Dr.

Hofreiter must become a minister! ”The election campaign has begun.
