Brazil is politically agitated, on the high seas, without yet knowing where it will end.
If the different polls do not lie, it seems more certain every day that the current president Jair Bolsonaro, branded as a nazi-fascist and a genocidal man because of the abandonment to which he has left the country with his denial of the pandemic, is in vertical decline.
He could not even reach reelection in 2022 and if not only former president Lula arrived, but several other candidates from the center would defeat him.
Perhaps for this reason, as he is increasingly harassed every day, his aggressiveness increases and he continues to threaten every day not to accept the result of the ballot box in the event of defeat. He takes shelter in the Armed Forces and police and even in the militias to prepare for war. And the most serious thing, as Eliane Brum has just written in her last column in this newspaper - Bolsonaro is a myth, yes - it is not enough to defeat the president through
impeachment
, however urgent and important it may be. The most important and urgent thing is to end the "mythical creature", since the myth of the captain will continue even with him out of power.
In order to dethrone not only the president but also end the myth, it will be necessary, according to Eliane Brum, to "re-found Brazil." And it is true that today's Brazil, that of the sea of victims of the pandemic, in which culture, education, the environment, essential human rights have been humiliated and trampled on, and the different and the media persecuted, has been not only humiliated but destroyed and trampled on. And as Eliane affirms, to destroy not only the power of Bolsonaro but the mysticism of the myth it would be necessary to "re-found Brazil." And it is that the country has made the worst of its history reappear with Bolsonarism, its most primitive instincts, its persecution of different people, its racism and its abyss of social inequalities.
The flag of a country has always been the emblem of its essence, the best and the worst of its past and present history.
And the Bolsonarista myth has soiled the flag of this country by seizing it, a gesture that has also meant the rupture of the people, the division that is always something satanic.
It is as if today there were two Brazilians and the flag that belonged to everyone had been usurped by myth.
During the last protest demonstrations of “Bolsonaro Out”, last Saturday, June 3, one of those present in São Paulo, Paulo Cesar, said something very graphic to my colleague Regiane Oliveira who was covering the event.
According to him "the flag of Brazil now represents death, it is no longer order and progress but disorder and return."
There is, in effect, a consensus that

to all Brazilians by taking it over as a symbol of destruction and death. For this reason, if, as Eliane Brum affirms, to get rid of not only Bolsonaro, however urgent it may be, it would also be necessary to re-found the country. And one of the first things would be for a new flag to be born that would reflect a new country freed from the demons that Bolsonarism has exacerbated by poisoning the country.
This new flag could be the symbol of a country not only reconciled that manages to rescue its lost essences from the rubble but also embraces what is lacking today in the symbols of its current flag. A new Brazil would need to incorporate into society with all the rights, be it the descendants of the slaves, all the people of color who today represent the majority of the country and the indigenous people, the true heirs who were always apart and despised and who today the myth tries to exterminate to take over the few lands that have remained since all of Brazil was his.
Yes, a new Brazil would need a new flag that is not contaminated by the Bolsonarista virus. Just as after a long dictatorship the countries that regain democracy tend to remake their Constitution, in the same way many remake their flags. Why not do it in Brazil? A special constituency made up of people from all social classes, artists, thinkers, workers, indigenous people would suffice. And even for the children who will be the ones who inherit that new flag.
I have been analyzing the map of all the flags of the world, and the current one of Brazil is one of the few in which the red color that usually signifies the blood spilled in conquests does not appear. Brazil has not been a country to talk about its great bloody conflicts and has privileged the colors of life and happiness, such as green, blue, yellow and white.
The new flag of a new Brazil should be designed to reflect and highlight all the gaps in society, all the abuses of the most humble, the contempt for those who are sexually different, the trampled human rights and the importance that Afro-descendants should have to those that the culture of Brazil owes so much to them. It would be like throwing off that flag all the demons of genocidal Bolsonarism and its predilection for violence and death, division and lack of humanity. Brazil, the most genuine, the one with its best essences, the one envied outside, the one who rightly or wrongly identifies with the values of happiness, joy, welcome and its richness of cultures, needs a flag that is its own. better mirror in which there is no trace of the baseness and tears of Bolsonarism that is destroying the soul of this people.
