As-Suwayda-Sana
The Directorate of Agriculture in As-Suwayda initially estimated the governorate’s total production of apples for the current season at 45,530 tons.
The director of As-Suwayda Agriculture, Ayham Hamed, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the estimates are less than expected due to the weather conditions during the season, indicating that the fields are well monitored by agricultural technicians and information about fungal and insect infections to deal with them properly.
Engineer Hamed pointed out that the total areas planted with apples for the current season amounted to 15549 hectares, comprising 3.470 million trees, of which 2 million and 839 thousand trees are fruitful.
Apple is the main crop in As-Suwayda Governorate, knowing that its production last year amounted to about 40 thousand tons.
