A former insurance agent of AIA, who allegedly graduated from a technology college in the Mainland by AIA, falsely reported his academic qualifications to obtain employment and earn commissions. He was sued by the Independent Commission Against Corruption on Thursday (8th).

The woman involved in the case was released on bail and will defend her in the Eastern Magistracy next Monday (12th).

The defendant Wu Huali, 38 years old, was a former insurance agent of AIA (International) Co., Ltd.

The charge alleges that the defendant was suspected of using deception to dishonestly obtain money for himself on about August 1, 2018, that is, falsely claiming that he had worked in a science and technology college in the Mainland from September 2001 to July 2004. Studying and graduating from the college; and the graduation certificate issued to her by the college is true, correct and complete.

As a result, the defendant was hired by AIA as an insurance agent, and the opportunity to earn remuneration involved more than 34,000 yuan in commission.

All new insurance agents must register with the Hong Kong Federation of Insurance Companies through their insurance company in order to be eligible to sell insurance products.

The Hong Kong Federation of Insurers requires insurance agents to have Form 5 or equivalent qualifications.

The ICAC received a corruption complaint earlier and launched an investigation. After seeking legal advice from the Department of Justice, the defendant was prosecuted.
