Damascus-SANA

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, affirmed that the adoption of Resolution 2585 regarding extending the entry of humanitarian aid across the border in its current form is an achievement because it included all aspects that Western countries refused to address and stresses the delivery of humanitarian aid from inside Syria, not only from the crossings.

Minister Miqdad said in a statement to reporters: The resolution renews the strong belief of the United Nations in the unity of the land and people of Syria, and this means that the Turkish regime will not be satisfied, as will the United States, which supports the separatists in northern Syria. It also means that the militants and terrorists have been besieged in this resolution, which stressed in all Its paragraphs stress the need to provide all possible assistance to Syria, especially from within Syria.

Al-Miqdad indicated that the decision means that the external crossings are no longer the main tool that the West used to rely on in the context of delivering aid to Syria. Rather, the Syrian interior has become the basis, pointing out that the Western countries wanted to reopen the other three crossings, but they only got half of the crossing, which is Bab al-Hawa crossing, as it wanted to extend the entry of aid from it for a year, but the friends only agreed to let this aid in for six months.

Al-Miqdad explained that with the new decision, which emphasized the entry of aid from inside Syria, the state would become aware of precisely what enters the country and where the food and humanitarian supplies go, and it will become difficult for Western countries to pass weapons to terrorists, considering them an integral part of Western aid.

The Foreign Minister indicated that the Russian and Chinese friends and others in the Security Council succeeded in restricting the free access of Western and Turkish aid to militants and terrorists, indicating that this is an essential step towards closing the Bab al-Hawa crossing because respect for Syrian sovereignty comes through respecting its territorial borders and the absence of any exceptions for any borders to enter. Anything the Syrian government does not want to enter.

He added: We are satisfied with this effort made by the Russian and Chinese friends and other member states, especially the non-permanent members of the Security Council, and we express our appreciation for their great effort because the new resolution placed many restrictions on the movement of goods and the movement of Western countries that were disregarding international borders and using these crossings to harm the unity of the country. The land and people of Syria.

Al-Miqdad indicated that the border crossings were used by Western countries, the United States of America and all those who support terrorism in order to provide the militants and terrorists with the materials they want, and many weapons entered with this aid, and that the United Nations, which established this mechanism, did not perform its duty to monitor the goods entering into Syrian.

He added: The United Nations, like Western countries, failed to bring real aid to the Syrian people, as it used to receive this aid on the borders, and then the militants and their organizations and organizations affiliated with Western countries received it to distribute it to the terrorists or to be sold by these organizations to the people at very high prices.

He said: We said that this mechanism could not continue. Indeed, friends in the Security Council stood by us, especially the Russian Federation, China and other countries, and the three crossings were closed, "Al-Ramtha, Bab Al-Salam and Al-Yarubiyah", and only the last crossing remained, which is Bab Al-Hawa crossing, which was the subject of an incredible campaign throughout The past six months in the United States of America, its research centers, Western countries and its politicians, where nothing remains in today's world except the issue of opening the Bab al-Hawa crossing.

Miqdad pointed out that Western countries still insist that they will not provide aid to Syria and do not want to contribute to development and reconstruction projects in Syria, despite the fact that the resolution they adopted states otherwise.
