The municipality of Seefeld is the eighth municipality in the district to be certified as a Fairtrade municipality.
Some of the partners from the community met on Friday in the Seefeld parish home Peter and Paul to celebrate the certification.
“We did it,” enthused Doris Kömmling from the Fairtrade Community Steering Committee.
Seefeld - There is a lot of work behind the members of the steering committee, which set out in 2019 with the municipal council resolution and first had to see how the fair trade offer in Seefeld was actually going. Events had to be organized, public relations work had to be carried out. "After eight months, Corona came - we weren't that far yet," explained Kömmling. But now the community meets all the criteria. In addition to the church and elementary school, Edeka, Ginder, Kokon, Neighborhood Aid and the restaurateurs Sepperlwirt, Strandbad and Kino as well as the administration were able to win ten partners who sell or use Fairtrade products. The certificate is now valid for three years. During this time, Kömmling and her colleagues want to carry the idea forward and solidify it.If you want to take part, you can contact the initiators by email at fairtrade@agenda-seefeld.de.
