An emergency call was received by the professional fire brigade around 10.45 a.m. because the mother and the two-year-old child were trapped under the tree.
Before the rescue workers arrived, employees of a company who worked near the playground lifted the tree with a telescopic handler and freed the mother and her child.
Both were first treated by an emergency doctor and then seriously injured and taken to hospital.
A sibling and a worker were looked after by a crisis intervention team.
