Four exhausting weekends first responder course are done: Twelve women and men, seven of them from the Aufkirchen fire brigade and five from the Schwaig fire brigade, have used their free weekends to train as "paramedics in the fire brigade".

Aufkirchen / Schwaig - The course was carried out by MKT Krankentransport OHG from Munich in the rooms of the two weirs. The 69 teaching units dealt with the examination of emergency patients according to the XABCDE scheme, a procedure commonly used in the rescue service, as well as the cardiovascular system and possible diseases. In addition, the budding paramedics treated various diseases related to breathing. They learned how to recognize neurological problems that indicate a stroke, and how to pass on the knowledge gained briefly and concisely to the emergency services so that no important information is lost. It was also about providing first aid to injured people.

The legal framework was given in the theory lesson, as well as the overarching rescue service structures in emergencies with five or more patients.

Training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation was of particular importance - a whole day was devoted to resuscitation with a defibrillator and resuscitator.

Finally, the knowledge was tested in writing and practically.

In the practical part, the participants had to perform resuscitation on an adult and an infant doll.

Only those who had passed were allowed to take the final exam.

It consisted of a written and two practical exams.

The aim was to show that one was able to care for emergency patients until the ambulance service arrived.

Everyone had to compete once as a team leader and once as a helper.

Course instructor Wolfgang Roß was supported by the volunteer trainer team Nadine Lippold and Florian Roß as well as the team of volunteers Julia Meier, Theresa Meier and Felix Deinert. The Zollner farm shop contributed to the physical well-being by donating salad. After the exams there were still well-deserved certificates.
