Nevertheless, the government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson wants to lift all remaining corona rules on July 19.
Nadhim Zahawi, State Secretary in charge of the British vaccination campaign, told
Sky News
on Sunday that
he was
"confident" that the next step could be eased
. The British government will ultimately decide on Monday to lift the remaining corona rules in the largest part of England on July 19.
In the conversation, Zahawi emphasized that the pandemic was not over, but that was also evident in other countries.
“We are seeing an increase in infection rates in this country, but also in Europe and elsewhere.
The difference for us is that the vaccination program has been so successful. ”Just under 87 percent of the UK adult population have received their first dose of vaccine so far, and almost 66 percent have received their second.
