Throughout the last month they have been singing "Magical Nights" in Italy, and here comes the most magical night of all: the regional have won the second Euro in their history, 53 years after the previous win.
Italy were pressed at Wembley following an early deficit against England, but Leonardo Bonucci equalized 1-1 and sent the game into extra time, and on penalties it was Gianluigi Donnaroma's turn to make the difference as in the semi-final against Spain, with two crucial saves.
Roberto Mancini, who received a dismantled team that did not qualify for the previous World Cup, completed the turnaround thanks to a national record of 34 games without a loss that is also worth a prestigious title.
Europe is blue again.
Gianluigi Donaroma was named MVP of the tournament after his rise in the penalty shootout in the final and also in the semi-final, while equalizer Leonardo Bonucci was the standout of the final.
