Music, cinema and more in the bus shelter at the S-Bahn station.

Ebersberg - There is a bus in front of the Ebersberg S-Bahn station. Their driver is taking a break and has to smile, because two artists have made their home at the bus stop in front of her. An illustrated curtain covers half of the bus shelter. A collage can be seen on it, faces, sketches, a play of colors. A couple of costumes hang next to it. Behind it, Klaus Erika Dietl and Stephanie Müller from Munich, who call themselves “Mediendienst Leistungshölle”, set up their utensils: a small amplifier with a microphone, which is battery-operated, and a skateboard that has been converted into a kind of guitar. Then Klaus Erika Dietl pulls the curtain back. Clear the stage. What comes next has failed: Dietl and Müller improvise with voice and skateboard. Dietl hits the strings with the handle of scissors and lets them sound.Plus free improvisation by the singer.

Ebersberg: Bus shelter as a stage

Are they not bothered by the street noise?

On the contrary, says Stephanie Müller, “that is exactly what interests us.

The mixture of tones, sounds and traffic noise is a concept.

Our aim is to show that we humans are often overwhelmed by the speed of life. "

In fact, when the two of them play, one perceives the traffic noise more intensely, if not at all.

Do you first need such artistic interventions to clarify such phenomena, to raise awareness?

We are looking for stories of success for a future with a future.

The duo "media service performance hell"

Klaus Erika Dietl and Stephanie Müller are participating artists of the Arcadia Festival in Ebersberg.

They have transformed the bus shelter into a stage.

Two things are the central building blocks of their performances: improvisation and interaction.

They observe and want to talk to passers-by, also to have stories told.

In turn, they react to this artistically.

"It is important for us to take our time," says Müller.

Already during the S-Bahn trip from Munich to Ebersberg, they were inspired, taken in what was happening around them, and then picked up on it.

"We are looking for stories of success for a future with a future," explains the duo.

Ebersberg: Three more appointments in the bus shelter

Not everyone is aware of what is happening here. An older lady, for example, simply sits down next to her on the waiting bench without even remotely taking any notice of either of them. Others are curious, as is the bus driver, who waves to the two of them with a smile when she starts her vehicle.

Intervening in everyday life, in the ordinary to stimulate change, is the principle of this festival contribution. The waiting area not only becomes a performance stage, but also a research booth, a miniature greenhouse or a tea room. “Every day will be different,” says Müller. “For example, next time we'll bring a lawnmower that has been converted into a harp. Another time the bus stop will turn into a cinema in which we will show various short films. ”They want to smear the glass panes in the waiting area with buttermilk. "It can be removed wonderfully and without leaving any residue."

This performance series started on Friday.

The duo can be experienced again on Tuesday, July 13th, between 6pm and 9pm, on Wednesday, July 14th, from 9pm to midnight, and on Thursday, July 15th, from 3pm to 6pm - at the bus stop at the Ebersberg train station.
