Today, Russian fighters intercepted two American spy planes over the Black Sea and prevented them from violating Russian airspace.
The TASS news agency quoted the Russian National Defense Administration Center as saying in a statement that the Russian surveillance systems detected two targets approaching the Russian border over the Black Sea waters, and called up two Su-27 and Su-30SM fighters belonging to the air defense forces of the Southern Military District. The Russian Federation has identified the two targets and confirmed that they are an American spy plane “EP3A” Ares and a “CL600” Challenger plane belonging to the US Navy.
The center confirmed that the Russian fighters did not allow violating the Russian borders, pointing out that their flights were carried out in accordance with all international aviation rules, and that they returned to their base after the two American planes changed course away from the Russian borders.
