Age, corona vaccination status and therapy - hospitals in Germany will have to report more and more precise data on corona patients on their wards in the future.
Berlin - The federal government wants to move away from incidence as the main criterion in the corona pandemic - and to collect new data for this purpose: "In future, all Covid patients treated in hospital, their age, the type of treatment and their vaccination status must be reported", Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) tweeted on Sunday.
In addition to the data on the occupancy of the intensive care units, even better information would be needed on all corona cases treated in the clinics, added a spokesman.
Spahn calls for more transparency
In future, all Covid patients treated in hospital, their age, the type of treatment and their vaccination status must be reported.
In this way, we can estimate in real time how high the burden will be on the health system and how well the vaccinations are working.

Spahn wants to submit a new reporting regulation
Spahn's ministry wants to present a new reporting ordinance, which should come into force soon.
It must be possible to estimate in real time "how high the burden will be on the health system and how well the vaccinations will work," writes Spahn.
At the same time, he was confident that the ongoing vaccination campaign would have a positive effect: "Since the risk groups at risk are vaccinated, a high incidence does not automatically mean an equally high level of stress in the intensive care beds."
Spahn: Corona incidence is becoming less meaningful
The incidence is becoming increasingly less meaningful, the minister said.
"We now need more detailed information about the situation in the clinics." Previously,
Bild am Sonntag
reported on Spahn's plans.
The 7-day incidence per 100,000 inhabitants is currently increasing again slightly, but is still at a low level.
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave it 6.2 on Sunday.
A week ago the value was 5.0.
However, these statistics do not provide any information about how severely infected the infected are.

The board of the Patient Protection Foundation, Eugen Brysch, also called for transparency in the information provided by the hospitals.
It needs reliable data for the situation on all stations, explained Brysch.
This allows the pandemic situation to be assessed better than just looking at the incidence values.
