A deadly heat wave is sweeping the western United States, and in many areas temperatures have come close to breaking an all-time record. In "Death Valley" in California, one of the hottest places on earth, it was recorded yesterday (Sunday) again 54 degrees, after on Saturday they had already reached 54.4. Most tourists in the area got out of their cars just to be photographed with the thermometer.

The National Weather Service has issued heat warnings to most of the area, warning residents that high temperatures could be dangerous to their health - especially for young children and adults. The heat wave, which has spread to most of the northwestern United States, is weighing down on major power grids, including one in southern Oregon that threatens 1,200 homes and buildings.

The "Bottleg" fire, which broke out on Tuesday, consumed 580 square kilometers in and near a national forest, and as of yesterday the fire has not yet been brought under control. Of Oregon and California, and states fear power outages in thousands of homes and businesses.

Residents of hundreds of homes have already been required to evacuate and authorities in Kalmath County have warned that they will also make arrests to prevent people from being in these areas.

Additional residents received warnings at a lower level of urgency.

Gov. Kate Brown declared a state of emergency last week.

The extreme heat in the northern United States was recorded just a few weeks after the deadly heat wave that hit North America.

A surge in the number of deaths has been linked to the severe heat, which according to EU experts, was part of the hottest June ever measured in the region.

Although it is difficult to link every single event to global warming, research by experts in the field has determined that extreme heat in Canada and the United States would not have been possible without climate change.
