Politicians are expressing concerns about a possible fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany.
Now the federal government is taking a position on a possible return to the federal emergency brake.
Munich / Berlin - They were hotly debated and argued about: the curfew in the lockdowns of the coronavirus pandemic in Germany.
Most recently, the exit restrictions were enshrined in law in the so-called federal emergency brake, also known as the corona emergency brake.
However, the regulations on said federal emergency brake ended on June 30th.

Meanwhile, in mid-July, politicians are worried about a so-called fourth wave of the corona crisis in autumn.
Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier recently called on the parties in parliament to ensure that, regardless of the outcome of the 2021 federal election on September 26, school children are not at home in the event of further Covid-19 measures and a possible fourth wave in autumn would have to stay.
An indication?
A hint that there is something in store for Germany again?
Steinmeier remained claused, Steffen Seibert, spokesman for the Federal Government of (still) Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), expressed himself more precisely.
A possibly threatened return to a corona emergency brake should no longer necessarily be linked to the regional 7-day incidence of 100.
In summary, the federal government wants to take more factors into account when assessing the corona situation in Germany.

Thanks to the vaccinations against the coronavirus and the precautionary measures, the Federal Republic is "in a very good position," said Seibert this Monday (July 12).
People could enjoy a lot again.
"But that doesn't mean that we are already in a normal situation," said the government spokesman.
Rather, a look at the neighboring countries makes it clear that the low number of cases “could quickly explode again”.

With a certain delay, more people could get sick again. "Of course the vaccination has changed the overall bill," said Seibert: "But we are not yet adequately prepared in the event that the numbers rise sharply again." Whether and in what form the rising number of corona infections - for example because of the Delta -Variant - if there is a reaction, a decision should in future be made depending on the number of cases, the progress made in vaccinating against corona and the scientific assessment.
