The Haitian police announced Sunday evening July 11 to have arrested a Haitian national
"who had political objectives"
by recruiting the commando which assassinated President Jovenel Moïse on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
"This is an individual who entered Haiti aboard a private plane with political objectives,"
said Léon Charles, director of the Haitian national police. When he arrived in the country in June, Charles Emmanuel Sanon, 63, of Haitian nationality, was accompanied by several Colombian nationals, responsible for ensuring his security, according to details provided during a press briefing in the presence of several ministers. .

The interrogations carried out with the 18 Colombian citizens arrested since Wednesday allowed the Haitian police to learn that Charles Emmanuel Sanon had recruited the 26 members of the commando via the services of a Venezuelan security company called CTU, based in Florida.
“When we, the police, blocked the progress of these bandits after they had committed their crime, the first person that one of the attackers called was Charles Emmanuel Sanon. He, for his part, made contact with two other people whom we consider to be intellectual authors of the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse ”
indicated Léon Charles without detailing the identity of these two suspects.
Members of the FBI, State Department, US Department of Justice and US Department of Homeland Security arrived in Haiti on Sunday and met with the Director General of the National Police.
The United States delegation met in separate meetings with the main players in the political scene, including Prime Minister Claude Joseph.
"I met the American delegation and together we appreciated the resolution of the Senate which chose me as provisional President of the Republic"
