Conor McGregor and his spectacular fracture 0:50
(Reuters) -
Conor McGregor said he felt "great" after undergoing surgery for a broken leg suffered during his trilogy match with Dustin Poirier on Saturday.
McGregor is pulled from the sand on a stretcher after injuring his ankle in the first round of his lightweight bout against Poirier.
McGregor took a bad step backward, bending his foot inward and breaking his left leg, causing the fight to be stopped by medics at the end of the first round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Is Conor McGregor's legacy at risk against Dustin Poirier?
"Fresh out of the operating room, everything went according to plan, everything was perfect and I feel great. Now there are six weeks left on crutches and then we start to rebuild," McGregor said in a video posted on social media.
McGregor kicks Poirier during UFC 264 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
"A clean fracture of the tibia and it couldn't be. Dustin, you can celebrate that illegitimate victory all you want but you haven't done anything in there. The second round would have proved it to everyone."
McGregor's loss and the severity of the injury have raised questions about his future in the sport, but UFC president Dana White said there will be fights on the table when he's back in shape.
