The Government published a "Public Transport Strategy Study" in 2017, which mentioned that franchised bus companies may consider developing new services, including new types of long-distance bus services.

According to the study, the new features of the service are wider seats, no standing, fewer stops, and more comprehensive carriages to provide passengers with more choices.

The study also pointed out that 65% of the interviewees believed that it is still reasonable for the new service to be charged higher than the general service. Nearly half of them believed that they would consider using the new service if the fee was not more than 30% of the original. Four adults said that if the charge is 60% to double, they will still consider using it.

After the research was released, KMB expressed its intention to open two lines to operate related services.

At that time, the Transport Department also pointed out that it is expected to gradually introduce related services from the end of 2018 to the beginning of 2019.

As of today, KMB finally announced that the two "star-class lines" P960 and P968 will be officially put into service next Sunday, which will be postponed for nearly three years.

KMB stated that buses running on the two lines all use Euro VI environmentally friendly engines and are equipped with the latest safety devices, including driver assistance systems, captain fatigue reminder system, GreenRoad captain driving feedback system, seat belts, etc.

In addition, all cars are equipped with curtains, USB charging devices and provide free wireless Internet services.
