There is now a barrier in the underground car park on Badgasse, and parking at Wittelsbacher Park will be subject to charges in future.

There will also be other changes in the parking situation in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

- The

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

market has documented 3880 publicly accessible parking spaces - not including parking spaces at the edge of the road.

The community wants to earn a little money with these areas.

At least she doesn't want to pay extra.

But she did that in the underground car park on Badgasse for a long time.

Because the payment behavior left a lot to be desired.

Even with the area at Wittelsbacher Park, the market has so far not taken anything.

Both should change soon.

In addition, owners of monthly and annual tickets will have to pay more in the future.

This is what the main and finance committee wants.

He has dealt extensively with the topic of parking and its fees.

He gave the local council some draft resolutions.

He has to decide in the end.

Badgasse underground car park

She comes. Well really. The barrier in the underground car park on Badgasse is due to go into operation on August 1st. In August 2020, the municipal council voted in favor of this solution and thus a return to the old system and commissioned the administration to procure the system as quickly as possible - mainly for financial reasons. While the municipality used to collect more than 100,000 euros in some cases with the barrier, the revenue from the machine system sank rapidly. In 2018, the municipality earned only 60,000 euros, in 2019 this remained 39,000. The municipality was unable to provide any information for 2020. In addition, the people of Partenkirchen wanted the barrier back, said Mayor Elisabeth Koch at the meeting a year ago. She spoke of an “urgent request”. This is fulfilled.Citizens also get their long-awaited weekly and monthly tickets back - only at different prices.

The underground car park on Badgasse is well used, but the payment behavior is poor.

Therefore a barrier will be set up on August 1st.

On February 1, 2019, the market abolished long-term tickets and angered the Garmisch-Partenkirchner mightily. There were protests, legal steps were in the room (we reported). City hall spokeswoman Silvia Buyer-Schropp does not say whether the Social and Regulatory Affairs Committee has therefore spoken out in favor of reintroducing these variants at the end of April this year. In any case, the main and finance committee now followed the panel's view. What the citizens shouldn't like: Tickets are getting more expensive. If you previously paid 40 euros for the monthly pass, it should now cost 60 euros. For one week, 40 euros are due. Parking remains free for the first two hours, every additional half hour costs 1 euro (with a maximum of 5 euros for a day). The fees apply around the clock,There is no return to the free parking time between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. Just as little as barter promotions. The new system records license plates and prints them directly on the parking ticket. "Fraud should therefore be excluded," says Buyer-Schropp.

Wittelsbacher Park

You can still park your car free of charge at Wittelsbacher Park.

This will be different with the new fee schedule: between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., 50 cents per 30 minutes are due.

You pay a maximum of 5 euros with a maximum parking time of twelve hours.

Ski stadium, Fürstenstrasse and Kreuzstrasse

At the car park at the Skistadion, on Fürstenstrasse and Kreuzstrasse (Saliter car park), maximum charges of 5 euros per 24 hours of parking time, 10 euros for 48 hours and 15 euros for 72 hours are set according to the proposal of the main and finance committee.

This is currently significantly cheaper, the time was not so precisely defined: One day of parking was 2.50 euros, for two days you paid 4, for three days you paid 5 euros.

Fees, validity, maximum parking time

The legal framework for public parking spaces - the underground car park on Badgasse will be managed under private law from August - provides for fees of up to 50 cents per 30 minutes.

The community wants to take advantage of this.

The paid parking time is generally from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekdays, the general maximum parking time is 120 minutes.

Some parking spaces differ from this: City Hall and Congress Center (maximum parking time 240 minutes), Wittelsbacher Park (12 hours), Skistadion, Fürstenstrasse and Kreuzstrasse (72 hours).

The tickets are only valid for the reserved parking space.

So you cannot use the remaining time paid at another parking space in the village.

Monthly and annual tickets

The price for monthly and annual tickets in Garmisch-Partenkirchen has not changed for about ten years. Now it should increase: The main and finance committee has set 35 instead of the previous 30 euros for the month, 350 instead of the current 300 euros for the year. The long-term tickets are valid in all chargeable, above-ground, unrestricted, community-owned parking spaces. In other words: not in the underground car park on Badgasse.
