The Haifa District Court will decide today (Monday) in the case of actor Moshe Ivgi, who was convicted of committing indecent acts on five women and sexual harassment against four women.

The prosecution requested that Ivgi be sent to prison, for at least three years for the sexual offenses for which he was convicted.

On the other hand, his defense attorney, Adv. Michael Carmel, again asked that his sentence be for service work only. Last month, at the end of the sentencing hearing before Judge Ziv Arieli, his lawyer noted that "he has been going through hell in recent months," he said. The

case was revealed in Walla! In February 2016. In the previous trial before Judge Arieli, which ended in July last year, Moshe Ivgi was convicted of two indecent acts on one woman who worked with him in 2012. The Haifa District Attorney's Office then demanded 15 months in prison, but the court sentenced him to six months. Service work, six months probation and compensation for the same woman in the amount of ten thousand shekels.

This is after he was acquitted due to doubt of two charges of indecent acts and sexual harassment by two other complainants.

In the case of another complainant, the prosecution withdrew from the charge during the trial.

The defense attorney's appeal to the city district court over the severity of this sentence was rejected in March and the panel of judges: Avraham Elyakim, Erez Porat and Tamar Neot Perry even accepted the state's appeal of the partial acquittal and convicted him of all sexual offenses attributed to him in the original indictment.

Following this decision, prosecutors Maya Yozbegi, Orly Rosenthal and Hila Katz also promised a heavier sentence and said in response to the Walla!

Because "there are new offenses now and naturally our position will be more difficult."
