The government

blocks the appointment of the two directors by the opposition

at Radio y Televisión Argentina (RTA), the company that runs National Radio and Public TV and is headed by Rosario Lufrano.

"The director candidate who proposed the PRO filed a labor lawsuit against RTA last month, due to a problem he had last year, since he was an auditor there. So we are

not going to appoint someone who has a lawsuit against the company state.

we ordered a technical report to the Legal Department of RTA, to guide us on how to

move forward. we are waiting for that report ,

"he told

Clarin

source of the national government.

In contrast, a source close to Larsen denied that the trial started last month, although he acknowledged the labor dispute.

"He started the trial in August of last year, because he was an internal auditor of RTA and

they threw him out with a telegram of dismissal without cause, without any compensation

, in January 2020," that source told

Clarín

.

And he added: "When he was proposed to the position of director, this year, that judgment was already known. But there is no incompatibility, since the judgment is because he was an internal auditor and also this new position is ad honorem director.

They do not want it. appoint so that no one controls what Lufrano is doing

on Public TV, "said a source close to Larsen.

Two months ago the Bicameral Commission for Audiovisual Communication of Congress proposed

Cristian Larsen

(PRO) and

Carlos Monte

(UCR)

for these positions

, unanimously by all its members.

But the government delays both appointments and is especially resistant to Larsen's proposal.

The government had already blocked last year the appointment of another PRO director in RTA,

Emilio Lafferriere

, who had also been unanimously proposed by the Bicameral Commission of Congress.

Lafferriere was questioned by the Government that had already been director of the public media during two successive administrations, when Mauricio Macri was President, despite the fact that he was in RTA the same time as Silvana Giudici in the National Communications Agency,

who was appointed there as director last year.

Alberto Fernández appointed in RTA the two directors who correspond to the Executive Power, who are Rosario Lufrano and Osvaldo Santoro;

as well as

appointed Cynthia Ottaviano as director,

at the proposal of the Frente de Todos (FdT), as the first parliamentary minority.

But it delays the appointment of the two directors who correspond to the opposition.

Lafferriere had been proposed in May last year, but the government rejected the proposal.

Then an attempt was made to move forward last November and in April of this year, but at the last minute

the president of the Bicameral Commission, Deputy Gabriela Cerruti (FdT),

suspended both meetings

.

And they could only be proposed to Larsen and Monte on May 6.

Larsen was already an RTA auditor during

Hernán Lombardi's

management

at the head of the public media, while Monte was mayor of Río Segundo, Córdoba.

It remains to be seen how Monte's proposal continues, since his appointment is in the same file as Larsen and since June 6 he has been

blocked at the Cabinet Headquarters,

where he has not registered any movement.
