To promote women's issues

Selma Masood is a mixed-race child born in Hong Kong. Her father is a Middle Eastern Indian. She said that she has always been very concerned about the issue of women’s empowerment. Most of them are men and think that they can achieve success.

Regarding the impact of the National Security Law on Hong Kong, Masood did not comment positively, saying only that he must call on the public not to violate the law, understand the doubts in the public's mind, and help the public understand the law as a lawyer.

She pointed out that many changes are inevitable, but she can still choose how to deal with it, and she tends to deal with it from a positive perspective.

She also pointed out that lawyers should be the guardians of the rule of law and justice, so she hopes to rebuild the public's confidence in the rule of law and respect judicial independence and professional autonomy.

Masood emphasized that the rule of law has many levels, and law enforcement, justice, and policy formulation are all part of the rule of law.

Masood described that after various changes in the past two years, Hong Kong is now at a crossroads. He believes that this is an important juncture and hopes that the lawyers will respond quickly to current affairs.

The former deputy magistrate said he was an advantage

Recently, some establishments have criticized the abuse of the legal aid system and need to be tightened. For example, applicants are not allowed to choose their own lawyers.

Selma is unwilling to respond to the statement, but believes that "access to justice" (seeking justice, one of the principles of the rule of law) is very important, and emphasizes that to achieve fairness, people with relatively small incomes must be able to resort to justice.

She believes that the legal aid system should maintain the status quo.

She said that she considered her uniqueness to be a big selling point. She claimed to be one of the few solicitors who had served as a temporary magistrate, but later returned to her profession in a short time due to the heavy workload of operating a law firm.
