At the start of his visit to Berlin, the Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Selenskyj was received by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Bellevue Palace on Monday.
Steinmeier greeted Selenskyj before they both withdrew to talk.
The Ukrainian president has a series of appointments in the capital on Monday.
Among other things, Selenskyj is invited to a dinner with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) in the Chancellery.
A joint press conference is planned beforehand (7 p.m.).
In addition, a working meeting with Federal Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) is on the program for Selenskyj.
Zelenskyi's meeting with Chancellor Merkel will deal with German-Ukrainian relations, the status of implementation of the Minsk agreements to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian reform process, economic issues and relations with Russia.
At the end of May, the Ukrainian head of state spoke out in favor of German arms deliveries to Ukraine.
