Bad Wiessee - cigarette filters do not rot.

Unfortunately.

The butts remain at the bottom of lakes and are an ugly sight.

In the Wiesse Bay, divers have now cleaned the bottom of the lake from them: a Ramadama underwater.

Diving Ramadama: poor visibility makes work difficult - water with 20 degrees pleasant

22 divers followed his calls via WhatsApp, e-mail and word of mouth and came to Wiesse Bay early on Sunday morning.

“It was raining the day before, so visibility was not so good,” reports Groiss.

The divers could see degrees times one and a half to two meters.

After all, at 20 degrees the water was more pleasant than in winter, because Groiss is already out and about to clean the lake.

The divers were divided into teams and each team was assigned an area.

"Even after experience," says Groiss, "because it has to be safe."

Motivation: Environmental awareness - breakfast and raffle as a reward for the helpers

He says that environmental concerns are very important to divers.

In his training, he always encourages people to take things with them that do not belong in the water or on the shore.

“It doesn't look so nice when a cancer lives in a bag of chips.” During Ramadama in Wiesse Bay, the participants collected not only cigarette butts, but also bottles, broken glass and a couple of beer mugs.

One item that is almost collectible was an old bicycle.

“That probably dates from before 1950,” says Groiss with a laugh.

The 22 divers searched the bottom of the lake for two hours, and two helpers took what they found on the shore.

Afterwards there was breakfast and a raffle for everyone.

Sponsors had been found for this.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Tegernsee newsletter.
