Latakia - Sana

Side by side as a beehive, the fifty-year-old man Samir Fadel sets out to work with the first threads of the sun, sharing tasks with his wife, sons and a number of workers to carry out irrigation, watering, weeding and harvesting crops on the land he has been investing for several years.

Abu Jihad, who went to the city of Lattakia from Damascus, succeeded in realizing his dream by establishing his own project in the field of agriculture and cow breeding, driven by his love for the land and working in it.

About 10 dunums in the Wata Zina area on the outskirts of Lattakia city were planted by Abu Jihad with various types of seasonal vegetables such as eggplant, peppers, beans, cucumber, cucumber, molokhia, pumpkin, light, gypsum, and others.

Fadel explained to SANA reporter that he started working on a piece of land close to the water supply to ensure that it is properly irrigated and irrigated, then divided it into small areas and planted it, pointing to a number of difficulties that have become a major obstacle to continuing work, namely the lack of production requirements and high costs.

Workers and family members share the work of irrigation, weeding, spraying pesticides, combating diseases, picking crops and packing them to transport them to the market or sell them directly to the consumer, while the other part goes to milking the cows, feeding them and taking care of their young. Abu Jihad explained that the best time to harvest is in the early morning hours, before the temperatures intensify.

Fadel expressed his satisfaction with the steps he took in implementing his project despite the difficulties, calling for paying more attention to the agricultural sector and farmers in the governorate, providing production requirements, and organizing tours by those concerned in the Directorate of Agriculture to supervise agricultural lands, follow up on the status of crops, and provide the necessary instructions and preventive measures to combat agricultural pests.

Abu Jihad concluded his speech by emphasizing that with will and work there is nothing impossible, so he plans today to expand and plant an additional 20 dunums if he is able to provide water and electricity, noting that this future plan will achieve new material gains for the family and provide job opportunities for more young people.
