Damascus Hospital (Al-Mujtahid) provided 162 thousand medical services during the first half of this year, distributed among services for 87 thousand patients who attended outpatient clinics and 75 thousand patients who attended the ambulance department.
And the director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Abbas, said in a statement to SANA’s delegate that the hospital performed during the same period 5,000 surgical operations, most of which were emergency, to stop cold operations for some periods due to the spread of the Corona virus and the expansion of the hospital’s isolation departments for the benefit of patients infected with the virus.
According to Dr. Abbas, the number of x-rays submitted during the first half of this year reached 75,000 radiographs, 10,000 magnetic resonance images, and 5,000 CT scans.
Abbas stressed that all medical services provided to patients attending the ambulance department are free of charge, including surgeries, while the hospital charges a symbolic fee for cold operations and for outpatients, which does not exceed one-tenth of the private hospital wages.
