Frankfurt / Main - Neither high inflation data from the USA nor the quarterly figures from the major US banks Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan were able to give the exchange rates new impetus.
After a quiet trading day with little fluctuation, the Dax closed at 15,789.64 points, almost unchanged from the previous day's close.
The MDax fell moderately by 0.10 percent to 34,920.60 points.
On Monday, the Dax had reached a record with 15,806 points.
