South Horizons West District Councillor Lin Haobo stated that he had resigned as a district councilor on July 11, stating that "the current political environment does not allow me to continue to fulfill my promise to everyone."
In the 2019 district council elections, Huang Zhifeng, who was then the secretary-general of Hong Kong Zhifeng, was disqualified (DQ). Lin Haobo from the same district participated in the election on behalf of the democratic faction and defeated the New Democratic Party Chen Jiapei to become a member of the Haiyi West District.
Lin Haobo said on Facebook that he had resigned as a district councilor on July 11.
He said that before the election, a friend told him: "If you can integrate economic knowledge with political issues, this will surely bring overwhelming power." But "the current political environment does not allow me to continue to fulfill my promise to everyone."
During his tenure, Lin Haobo provided opinions on the future planning of the Ocean Park, "Diving Hong Kong Island South" and other projects. At the same time, he arranged community recycling activities and cooperated with government departments to control rodents.
He thanked the staff of the office and the South Horizons Management Office, and hoped to continue serving Hong Kong in another capacity.
