Tang Yingjie, a man involved in riding a motorcycle displaying the "Revolution of the Hong Kong Times" banner on July 1 last year, was accused of violating the "Hong Kong National Security Law". The defense summoned another expert witness to testify this (12th) afternoon. In addition to surveys at the demonstration site and statistics on posts in the LIHK (Lian Dang) discussion area, the study also invited participants in social movement for discussion. Some participants said that they did not originally use the slogan "Recover Hong Kong. Revolution of the Times". Because it was believed to be related to Hong Kong independence, the participant later thought that this slogan was about fighting for freedom, etc., and began to use it.

The research content includes social activists' discussions on Guangshi

Li Lifeng, a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication at the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Li Lifeng talked about the research methods in the expert report co-written with Professor Li Yongyi of the Department of Politics and Public Administration of the University of Hong Kong.

He revealed that a number of research methods were used, including on-site investigations of demonstrations and statistics on LIHKG (Lian Dang) forum posts, using words such as "Recover Hong Kong", "Revolution of the Times", and "Hong Kong Independence".

In addition, he also recruited supporters of social movements to discuss the main slogans of the movement in groups, including "light time."

Think that light time has the meaning of fighting for freedom

Li cited one of the people who participated in the discussion, saying that he did not support Hong Kong independence and would not use the term "Umbrella Revolution". Instead, he called it the "Umbrella Movement" because he believed that "revolution" meant to overthrow the regime.

The participant did not originally use the slogan "Light Time", thinking that it was related to Hong Kong independence.

However, he later believed that the slogan had other meanings, including fighting for freedom, and began to use "light time."

The defendant Tang Yingjie, 24 years old, reported as a waiter.

He was charged with 1 count of inciting others to split the country and 1 count of terrorist activity, and 1 count of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm to others, which is an alternate count of terrorist activity.
