Geretsried / Lanterna - The Abitur trip to the Croatian peninsula Lanterna was supposed to be the carefree, joyful end of their school life for 35 high school graduates from the Geretsried grammar school.
But the privately organized so-called X-Bash trip to Istria, which the Munich-based DocLX Abistars GmbH mediates under the motto “Come with us to the journey of your life”, came to a bad end.

As reported, 25 high school graduates have so far tested positive for Corona, eight of them have been shown to have the Delta variant.
The events have an impact on the seven-day incidence: With a value of 24.2 (RKI, as of July 13, midnight), the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district is the sad leader - it has the highest incidence in Germany.
Our newspaper spoke to a high school graduate who had traveled with us on Tuesday.
A total of 35 high school graduates from Geretsried took part in the five-day excursion to Croatia.
The majority set out for Lanterna in private cars, around ten took a seat in a coach in Munich on Saturday (July 3).
"On the Thursday before, everyone did a PCR test, and on Friday morning everyone did a quick test at home," reports the 19-year-old Geretsriederin.

All results were negative.
But: Two or three high school graduates met up with friends on Friday evening (“it wasn't a party!”) And got on the coach in Munich the next morning.
"Immediately before leaving, we all had to do a self-test," said the 19-year-old, "all results were negative."
48 hours after arriving on the peninsula, on Sunday, “we all had to do a gargle PCR test”.
Again 48 hours later, on Tuesday morning, a second one.
"That ended with funny," reports the Geretsriederin, because: After two positive findings, the affected persons and an indirect contact person, a room neighbor, were immediately isolated "in a quarantine hotel on the complex".
"Of course the mood has shifted, we didn't have any more parties and preferred to sit on the beach in the evening."

At the request of the Geretsrieder Group to test them all again, the X-Bash employees on site “only reacted wimpy,” says the young Geretsriederin.
During the last hours before departure, “we were extremely careful,” said the 19-year-old, who honestly admits: “Of course we celebrated from Saturday to Tuesday until we found out about the positive test results” - and one or the other preventive measure disregarded.
According to the Geretsriederin, the two index cases were driven back to Munich “with a kind of ambulance”.
The rest of the Geretsrieder group (“all with negative test results”) made their way home in their car - or in a coach that took around eight hours to cover the 550-kilometer route.
Also on board: "An extremely uncomfortable feeling, because we are of course afraid of the Delta variant, we all did not take off the FFP2 mask on the way home." In addition to the Geretsried school leavers, there was also an Abitur class on the bus Augsburg.

As soon as he got home, rapid tests or PCR tests followed on Thursday (July 8th). “And there were positive results,” says the 19-year-old, who has probably not infected herself now. She was “very shocked” by the news that among the now around 25 positive cases there are also some classmates who have been vaccinated twice and have already been vaccinated once. According to District Administrator Josef Niedermaier, the number of infected people could still increase: "The contact determination by the health department has not yet been completed," said Niedermaier at the meeting of the district committee on Monday.
The party atmosphere at the Geretsrieder Gymnasium is gone.
“It's all big crap,” says the 19-year-old.
There will presumably not be a high school graduation ball, the high school diploma - the award ceremony will take place on Friday in the sports hall of the high school on Adalbert-Stifter-Straße - "many of us now get it in the mail".
But much more important is: "That none of us get seriously ill."

In a statement to our newspaper, the school management of the Geretsrieder Gymnasium attaches importance to the statement that the corona outbreak is "outside the responsibility of the school".
The trip to Croatia “was not a school event, but a vacation trip offered by a commercial tour operator”.
The coronavirus infections are "all the more regrettable as the school had done everything in advance to prevent infections in order to guarantee as much classroom teaching as possible".
Due to the strict adherence to the general hygiene plan, "the Abitur exams went smoothly," emphasizes the school management.
