For a few months, the Central Bank (BCRA) has been warning of a

change in the money withdrawal system

that exists in ATMs.

And it is that many users find themselves with the limitation of

not being able to get more than $ 4,000

in a single extraction.

There are several reasons for this, including high inflation and the

large number

of

$ 100

bills

in circulation

.

In 2020, banking entities raised the

daily

cash

withdrawal limit

that their customers could have at ATMs, ranging

from $ 15,000 to $ 30,000

, to avoid overcrowding in branches in the face of the pandemic.

In order to enable it, customers had to previously enter their

home banking

account

and increase the maximum amount of money that is enabled to withdraw from ATMs in the account settings.

If the cashier finds a surplus of $ 100, he will only allow a maximum of $ 4,000 to be withdrawn at a time.

Although this provision is still in force, in recent times, due to the fact that there are

not

many $ 500 and $ 1,000 bills

, and which in turn are widely exceeded by the number of $ 100 bills, the

default withdrawal limit became $ 4,000

, as a result of the tellers not being able to deliver more than 40 bills at a time.

Faced with this situation,

many people were forced to make several withdrawals

of the $ 4,000 cap on the same day, or in the following days, to have more liquidity in hand.

But there are other

alternatives to get a larger amount of cash

at once or to do without physical tickets directly by replacing them with the use of electronic payments.

Where do you get the most amount of money in a single withdrawal?

Another way to obtain cash is through purchases made with a debit card in

supermarkets, pharmacies or service stations

In this case, people can

withdraw up to $ 15,000

with this method, also avoiding the fact of going to the ATM.

There are currently a large number of $ 100 bills circulating in the market.

What are the benefits?

  • Comfort

    .

Cash is bought and withdrawn in one place.

  • Safety

for oneself and for others, since it avoids exposing oneself in long lines at ATMs.

  • It is

    free

    .

There is no additional cost to use this service.

  • Solidarity

    .

If you have another option, it is better to avoid going to the cashier.

This reduces congestion at the doors of banks and takes care of those who have no other possibility to make transactions.

At the supermarket checkouts you can request cash withdrawals for up to $ 8000.

How do you withdraw cash without going through the ATM?

.

When you buy something in the supermarket, pharmacy or service station, you have to look for the place that has the

“Cash withdrawal” option

enabled

.

.

You can

check which ones

, according to the debit card with which the purchase is going to be paid: Maestro, Visa, Cabal.

.

When paying, you will have to notify the cashier that you need to withdraw cash and specify the amount you want to withdraw.

However,

the limit to withdraw will depend on what is available in the box at that time

.

.

The cashier will grant the money that was requested and a ticket where the two operations will be reflected: the detail of the purchase and the

receipt of the withdrawal

.

In any case, the use of cash has been declining since the pandemic began, since the confinement made many people buy with

electronic money

discouraging the use of banknotes.

With this initiative, the BCRA indicated that in the last year only 86 new ATMs were installed.

What are the alternatives to operate with electronic money?

1. Virtual wallet

It is a

mobile application

with which you can make multiple financial operations even if you do not have a bank account.

With the virtual wallet

, everything is done from the cell phone

, without having to leave home or queue.

To have a virtual wallet, the application is downloaded to the cell phone and the data is completed to start operating.

What can be done with a virtual wallet?

  • Receive money

from a bank account or from another virtual wallet

  • Transfer money

    immediately

  • Pay

    utility bills

  • Pay for purchases

    without handling money by showing

    the app's

    QR code

  • Reload

    SUBE card

How do I get a virtual wallet?

The cell phone is searched for some of the

applications available for “virtual wallets”

(MercadoPago, Ualá, Modo, etc.). The one that best suits the needs of each one is downloaded and the data required to start operating is completed.

It can be linked to the bank account and credit cards, but if you do not have one, you can also handle funds that are transferred from other virtual wallets or from bank accounts.

2. Home Banking:

To

pay bills or services

, it can also be done without cash in hand, through the

Home banking

of the bank account with which it operates from

a computer or cell phone, 24 hours a day

.

What are the services that I can access?

  • Transfer money

to your own or third party accounts

  • See account summary and check balance

  • Pay taxes and services

  • Take out a loan

  • Make investments

  • Order checkbooks and deposit slips

  • Check the CBU of your account

  • Check credit card balance

  • In general, interact with the entity to carry out operations and manage the services it provides.

3. Debit cards

It is another electronic means available to

pay for products and services

, or to

load the SUBE card balance

, without the need for cash.

The debit card is linked to a bank account.

One of its main characteristics is that when paying, the amount is automatically debited from the related account.

All businesses, companies, professionals, monotributistas

that carry out operations with end consumers

must accept payment by debit card

.

Only those premises whose activity is carried out in towns with less than a thousand inhabitants or when the operations do not exceed the value of $ 100 are exempt.

The automatic debit payment

should not have an additional amount or surcharge

.

The debit and credit cards allow you to pay for purchases or pay for services without the need for cash.

4. Credit card:

One of the characteristics of this means of payment is that they offer the possibility

of paying in installments

(in installments).

It allows you to make purchases in shops and online stores that are affiliated with the card's payment network.

Unlike the debit card, the funds to be used at the time of making a purchase must not be previously deposited.

This amount can be paid in whole or in part and the outstanding debt accrues interest.

For this, the entity sends a summary with all the transactions carried out, the expiration date and the amount owed.
