For a few months, the Central Bank (BCRA) has been warning of a
change in the money withdrawal system
that exists in ATMs.
And it is that many users find themselves with the limitation of
not being able to get more than $ 4,000
in a single extraction.
There are several reasons for this, including high inflation and the
large number
of
$ 100
bills
in circulation
.
In 2020, banking entities raised the
daily
cash
withdrawal limit
that their customers could have at ATMs, ranging
from $ 15,000 to $ 30,000
, to avoid overcrowding in branches in the face of the pandemic.
In order to enable it, customers had to previously enter their
home banking
account
and increase the maximum amount of money that is enabled to withdraw from ATMs in the account settings.
If the cashier finds a surplus of $ 100, he will only allow a maximum of $ 4,000 to be withdrawn at a time.

Although this provision is still in force, in recent times, due to the fact that there are
not
many $ 500 and $ 1,000 bills
, and which in turn are widely exceeded by the number of $ 100 bills, the
default withdrawal limit became $ 4,000
, as a result of the tellers not being able to deliver more than 40 bills at a time.
Faced with this situation,
many people were forced to make several withdrawals
of the $ 4,000 cap on the same day, or in the following days, to have more liquidity in hand.
But there are other
alternatives to get a larger amount of cash
at once or to do without physical tickets directly by replacing them with the use of electronic payments.
Where do you get the most amount of money in a single withdrawal?
Another way to obtain cash is through purchases made with a debit card in
supermarkets, pharmacies or service stations
.
In this case, people can
withdraw up to $ 15,000
with this method, also avoiding the fact of going to the ATM.
There are currently a large number of $ 100 bills circulating in the market.

What are the benefits?
Comfort
.
Cash is bought and withdrawn in one place.
Safety
for oneself and for others, since it avoids exposing oneself in long lines at ATMs.
It is
free
.
There is no additional cost to use this service.
Solidarity
.
If you have another option, it is better to avoid going to the cashier.
This reduces congestion at the doors of banks and takes care of those who have no other possibility to make transactions.
At the supermarket checkouts you can request cash withdrawals for up to $ 8000.

How do you withdraw cash without going through the ATM?
.
When you buy something in the supermarket, pharmacy or service station, you have to look for the place that has the
“Cash withdrawal” option
enabled
.
.
You can
check which ones
, according to the debit card with which the purchase is going to be paid: Maestro, Visa, Cabal.
.
When paying, you will have to notify the cashier that you need to withdraw cash and specify the amount you want to withdraw.
However,
the limit to withdraw will depend on what is available in the box at that time
.
.
The cashier will grant the money that was requested and a ticket where the two operations will be reflected: the detail of the purchase and the
receipt of the withdrawal
.
In any case, the use of cash has been declining since the pandemic began, since the confinement made many people buy with
electronic money
discouraging the use of banknotes.
With this initiative, the BCRA indicated that in the last year only 86 new ATMs were installed.
What are the alternatives to operate with electronic money?
