One person was killed and four others were injured in a gas explosion at a hotel in Gelendzhik, southern Russia.
Sputnik news agency quoted a source in the emergency services in the Russian Krasnodar region as saying, "A gas explosion in the hotel killed one person and injured four," while medical sources said that the injured, including a child in serious condition, are currently receiving treatment in hospital.
For its part, the Russian Emergencies Ministry said that rescuers pulled one person out of the rubble after the explosion in Gelendzhik, noting that the explosion damaged the first floor of the hotel, and 50 people who were staying there were evacuated.
Immediately, the Russian authorities began an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
On the second of this month, a gas explosion in an apartment building in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod injured three people.
