The police officers seized the private car involved in the case. About 26 grams of suspected "ketamine" and about 12 grams of suspected "crack cocaine", a 35-year-old local man named Hong was arrested in the car.
Initial investigations revealed that the man was sentenced to a three-month suspension by the court. He was arrested on suspicion of "drug trafficking", "driving during the suspension period" and "driving without third party insurance" and is currently being detained for investigation.
The drug seized during the operation has a market value of about 33,000 yuan, which is believed to be used for regional supply.
The police reiterated that drug trafficking is a serious crime. According to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, Chapter 134 of the Laws of Hong Kong, a maximum fine of 5 million Hong Kong dollars and life imprisonment can be imposed upon conviction. The public should not try the law on their own.
