Henrietta Fore, director of the United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef), has decided to resign from her functions for personal reasons, the UN announced on Tuesday July 13, paying tribute to her management of this UN agency "in

Henrietta Fore informed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres of her decision, explaining that she wanted to "
devote herself to a health problem affecting a member of her family,
" said a statement from the Organization, without further clarification.
Henrietta Fore, a 72-year-old American, took office on January 1, 2018 and will remain in office until her successor is appointed, the UN press release said.
Unicef is governed by a board of directors made up of 36 members representing the five regional groups of United Nations member states (Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia-Pacific, Eastern Europe, and Western Europe and others. States).
Unicef works for the benefit of children in 190 countries and territories, in emergency situations as well as in peaceful countries. Its overall estimated budget for the period 2018-2021 was $ 22.8 billion.
