The Strong Lebanon Bloc renewed the call for accelerating the formation of the Lebanese government to be able to rescue and implement the reforms that the country needs.
In a statement after its meeting headed by Lebanese MP Gebran Bassil, the bloc expressed its hope that the person in charge of forming the new government, Saad Hariri, would discuss honestly and seriously with President Michel Aoun the issue of forming a government in accordance with constitutional and charter mechanisms and standards and capable of reform, especially after all the internal obstacles in front of it have been overcome.
The statement affirmed its full support for a government that implements the required reforms, thus gaining the confidence of Parliament, the Lebanese and the international community as a whole.
Lebanese President Michel Aoun commissioned Saad Hariri to form a new government last October after the resignation of Hassan Diab's government. However, this formation faces obstacles due to Western interventions that link aid to Lebanon economically with political concessions from some active Lebanese forces.
