Elisabeth Jocher has received the Federal Republic of Germany's Medal of Merit for her exceptional social performance.

For more than two decades, the Peitinger cared for her severely disabled daughter Paula.

Peiting / Schongau

- As if that wasn't a task enough, Jocher has also been involved in the community library in Peiting on a voluntary basis for a long time.

Now she has been honored for her merit by District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß.

Accompanied by her family, Elisabeth Jocher appeared at the Schongau District Office for the honor.

Barbara Bader, who works with Jocher in the parish and community library, was there.

She noticed what her colleague did in terms of family and voluntary work, so she suggested her for the award.

The mayor of Peitingen, Peter Ostenrieder, had also come to Schongau Palace to pay tribute to the awardee for years of social service.

His predecessor Michael Asam had already supported the proposal to award Elisabeth Jocher the Medal of Merit.

District Administrator Andrea Jochner-Weiß was able to hand over the medal and certificate on behalf of Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. “You deserve great respect and respect,” says the district administrator's laudation.

Only those who have already cared for relatives know what this task means.

The fact that the woman from Peiting cares about the well-being of others outside of her family is shown by her social commitment: Jocher has been working on a voluntary basis in the Peiting parish and community library for over 18 years, and since 2001 she has been giving women's gymnastics lessons at the local sports club.

At the moment, the woman from Peitinger is attending a course on caring for people with dementia.

The district administrator called Elisabeth Jocher a “great example of care and responsibility” when she presented her with a medal and certificate.
